NORMANN COPENHAGEN, THE STORY...
Jan Andersen and Poul Madsen teamed up to create the Normann Copenhagen brand in 1999 with a vision to make a difference in the design industry. The turning point came in 2002 where they launched the first product, the lamp Norm 69 under the brand name: Normann Copenhagen.
Within five years, more than 38 products followed, as well as collaborations with established design names and new talents from around the world. In 2009 Normann Copenhagen decided it was time to introduce furniture pieces as well. Today Normann Copenhagen continues to introduce exciting and bold, contemporary design products. Especially the color choice of the products has changed into a new color scheme and is often inspired by trends you also find in the fashion world.
A NEED FOR MORE SPACE
In 2005, Normann Copenhagen moved from the small design store at Strandboulevarden to an old 1700m2 cinema at Østerbro in Copenhagen. Normann Copenhagen was determined to create a unique retail environment that would add something new and exciting, and give customers inspiration for creating a modern home decor.
The ambition was to create the most innovative and inspiring retail store. The Flagship Store carries the entire Normann Copenhagen collection plus an exciting blend of Danish and International high-end brands within fashion for both kids, as well as women & men, lighting, perfume, design accessories and furniture.
Today the store has not only won several prizes as one of the coolest design stores in the World, but also serves as a platform for great parties, fashion events, art exhibitions as well as small happenings. You can learn more about the Flagship Store here. If you are in Copenhagen, do drop by.

EACH DESIGN HAS A UNIQUE STORY
Normann Copenhagen cooperates with a large number of Danish and International designers – each with their individual expression. They also work differently in the developing of new designs. Some works in glass, others in clay and some uses digital programs to create the design. In common is the passion for contemporary furniture and design, and creating objects that challenges conventional thinking. The diversity of the designers is reflected in the Normann collection, spanning products of designers aged 27 to 90 years. A Normann Copenhagen product is characterized by being eye-catching in use and by the design, form, color or material.

Poul Madsen explains: “When Jan and I look at new designs for Normann Copenhagen, we take a very intuitive approach to the products. A picture can say much more than words and if we are both struck by what we see, we are interested. We like products that have an original idea and a simple design, although we do not tie ourselves to a particular line. For Normann Copenhagen, brand mobility is an important value. We like to get involved in new projects if we see the right design proposals. For us, the important thing is that the projects we get involved in bring something new into the world of design.”
