1. Publishing house?
We have distinguished ourselves as a publisher of design rather than a conventional producer, working in the same way with designers that publishing houses work with authors.
Rather than selecting a designer to make a specific product, all designers are invited to bring their personal ideas. Some of these ideas are selected for development and production.
We look for products that add something new to their genre. Products with personality and character.

2. Scandinavian?
Our ambition is to gather a collection of the very best Scandinavian design today.
The term ‘Scandinavian’ refers to a philosophic and aesthetic perspective, rather than geography and nationality: we have French, German, Australian, American and Chilean designers in our network.
The result is a collection of design classics with timeless appeal and qualities that outlives temporary trends.

3. It’s all about ideas
Design House Stockholm work with both established and unknown designers. Our focus is on developing great products rather than name-dropping. When we first met Harri Koskinen, he was still an unknown student in Helsinki, but he had an amazing idea. An idea that would generate a worldwide success — the Block Lamp.

4. Our collection
Our collection is divided into the following categories: Furniture, Lighting, Kitchen, Fashion, Bedroom textiles, Design Objects and the Elsa Beskow Collection. We also distribute San Fransisco-based lighting manufacturer Pablo Designs in Europe.

5. Our stores and retailers
Our flagship store is located at NK Stockholm. We also have stores at Selfridges London and NK Gothenburg, in Båstad plus two franchise stores in Frankfurt and Jönköping. Design House Stockholm is represented at MoMA Store in New York, KaDeWe Berlin, Illums Bolighus Copenhagen & Stockholm, Globus Switzerland.
Each year products from Design House Stockholm are sold all over the world to a value over 25 million Euro. More than 1000 articles from more than 100 designers have been developed, approved and spread all over the world.
Our retail concept includes packaging and shop fittings with solutions for each product category, making it easy to quickly set up a shop-in-shop with selected design objects, lighting, furniture, kitchenware etc.

6. Organisation
Our head office is located in Stockholm, warehouse and customer service in Boda (southern Sweden) and purchase office in Gothenburg. We are also collaborating with sales agents and distributors in several countries.

7. The beginning
Founded by Anders Färdig in 1992, Design House Stockholm started as a publisher of design, mainly collaborating with U.S. companies like Crate & Barrel, MoMA Store and Williams-Sonoma. In 1997 the first products were released under our own label. In the early 2000’s our first concept store opened in Stockholm.
